Lilliput
Lillput? Wasn't that a fictitious place in Gulliver's Travels?
Well this one is definitely not fictitious and is in Dorset. The name was originally the Saltings due to the trade that went on here but it is thought that Lilliput came about due to Isaac Gulliver the smuggler who seems to be connected with most of the county!

But Gulliver owned Flag Farm and though he was a smuggler he was also a respected citizen.

The Saltings were worked up until 1820 and today the residential part is in the heart of Poole's yachting community The Yacht Club Marina having been rebuilt on the site of a former pre-war residential club that sat on the shore of the lagoon and the marina is reached via Lilliput's shopping centre
