century, with a few later insertions. Also included is the early
history of Eastleigh and Barton Peverel, neighbouring parishes
and numerous references to other parishes nearby. The 1327 Poll
Tax list of tenants for Stoneham, Eastleigh and Barton is
included.
A complete translation of the 1546 rental for North Stoneham and
Botley for the 1st Earl of Southampton, Sir Thomas Wriothesly.
The pedigrees of all the tenants of North Stoneham from the above
rentals from the manor court books, wills etc. have been
attempted until c.1650.
There are various chapters on the early history of St. Nicolas
church. The Earl's of Southampton. The Searle family who were
stewards of the manor for the Earls. The Fleming family who
became Lord's of the manor in 1599, and copies of various wills
including one that appears to be an administration of the Tudor
house in Southampton in 1564. Hundreds of surnames but no index.

A transcription from the Latin of all the tenants of Bishop's
Waltham and 8 other parishes belonging to the Bishop's of
Winchester attached to Bishop's Waltham. Their land holdings,
mills, trades etc. A full description of acreages, place names
and position to their neighbours and roads etc. The 1464 rental
names the previous tenants who held the tenancies from the 1332

Includes all the previous manor rentals with the addition of

for Ashton near Bishop's Waltham, with numerous indexes. The c.1630
rental was very fragmented and no date was visible. It is now
thought to be later, possibly 1640 by the mention of certain
names.

Droxford manor rentals 1551. Botley 1546/7
and the rent roll of Wm. Fauconer 1433 Midlington estates.
Droxford tithings include Hill, St.Clairs, Swanmore and
Shedfield, all of the Bishop of Winchester. The Botley rental of
1546 is for Sir Thomas Wriothesley, later 1st. Earl of
Southampton. The 1433 rent roll covers many places in Hants. and
Sussex that owed rents. Droxford is fully indexed with surnames

1208/9 Pipe Roll of the Bishopric of
Winchester.
This is an English translation of H. Hall and the London School
of Economics and Political Studies, Latin version of 1903. Being
the 4th year roll account of Bishop Peter des Roche during the
reign of King John. The debits and credit accounts of 36 manors
with their sub manors where existing, from Somerset to Hampshire
with others as far north as Oxfordshire. Includes the stock
accounts for various animals, cereals, cheese etc. for this year
compared with last year and their values.
The text has been indexed in a simple readable way of 1 line per
item. An abridged introduction to Hall's version has been
attempted. There is no glossary. Footnotes of difficult words
have been added. The index of all surnames are included. Royal
