THOMAS CYRIL BROADBRIDGE
The parents of Thomas were George Howard Broadbridge, and Lilian Mary ?, who came from England. They are both shown in the 1893 & 1897 Electoral Rolls, George as a Station Hand, and then as a storekeeper. It is believed that  George was related to one George Broadbridge, who was Lord Mayor of London in George VI's reign.

Wairau Valley is a small 'village' about 20 miles west of Blenheim, on the south bank of the Wairau River. George opened a store there in 1914, with his wife, and later sold the store, and farmed in Wairau Valley.

George and Lilian had four Children -
Thomas Cyril, b 1892, George Howard Weir, b 1889, Muriel Agatha b 1898, and Noel say 'Maimie'. I could only find a Mary Louisa Lilian b 1893?

George Howard Weir, and the girls helped at the store, and George Howard delivered goods by horse and cart as far away as Tophouse, almost as for as Lake Rotoiti, across rivers and mountainous country. Muriel and Maimie later married, and George Snr sold the shop in 1921, both Georges farming.

All the children would have attended the small Wairau Valley school.
Thomas was wounded in France (April to Dec 1915) - "they did not treat their wounds, and smoked in stead, so gangrene set in", so I guess that is why he was sent to Brockenhurst.
George Howard Weir Broadbridge married, and had Cyril Desmond, and Noel Weir.

Cyril started a trucking firm, and the trucks are still operating on Marlborough and Canterbury roads.
